On the 22nd floor of London’s Gherkin, an international law practice’s library is fitted with B-Line/2by2 lighting. Proximate lighting is a speciality of Aktiva; 2by2’s versatility allows desk lights to be configured into exceptionally long continuous lengths of efficient and energy–saving fluorescent illumination. The London Library

Aktiva’s B–Line bookcase lighting was specified by Arup Lighting with Haworth Tompkins throughout the main circulation, reading and reception areas of the newly refurbished London Library in St James’s. Its brushed stainless steel finish and clean lines discreetly embed the lighting in this traditional setting. Moreover B–Line’s energy–efficient fluorescent illumination generates enough output to serve as the sole luminaire in main areas of the library.

British Airport Authority’s new Compass Centre has been fitted out by Tilney Shane Architects with a wide variety of pendant lighting to help individualise meeting areas and rooms. Aktiva’s outsized Ø650mm Aluminium Demi–Hemi and Ø1550mm Drum spectacularly achieve this with boldness of volume and shape.
