A star feature of the King’s Cross London re–development is the 39,000 square–metre campus for Central St Martins, part of the University of the Arts. The 2–floor Library planned by lead architect Stanton Williams and interior architect Pringle Brandon had to meet stringent capital spend and energy consumption criteria for its lighting. B–Square’s low wattage T5 lamps generated 200 lux average levels on to shelving and passageways using just a single row for each double bookshelf–sided aisle throughout the library. Aktiva’s particular speciality is library lighting – B-Square is one of three bookshelf and reading desk light ranges available.

In its 200th year this interesting and popular gallery chose designers Small Back Room and INTO Lighting to make over its shop areas. Display cases and open merchandising areas were lit by a well–thought out mix of fluorescent lamping for comprehensive illumination and LED’s for the highlighting so critical in a retail environment. Aktiva’s fluorescent B–Line and LED–fitted Twig and Showbeam spots fully met these requirements.
